I would not recommend dentist Tony Lin to anyone. I had set up an appointment to have a six month check-up which included the x-rays and cleaning. When I arrived for the appointment, the receptionist verified I would be getting the both the x-rays and cleaning done. The X-rays were done and then Tony Lin checked my teeth and went over the x-rays.
He said that I needed to have two crowns done at $753 apiece. I had been to a different dentist about six month prior to this visit and he never mentioned anything about possibly needing crowns in the future. I was very suspicious of Tony Lin$0027s evaluation. After the X-rays were done, I thought they would do the cleaning but Tony Lin said that he didn$0027t have time and that I would have to make an appointment and come back another day.
I told him that I had made an appointment to have both the x-rays and cleaning done on this visit and the receptionist verified this when I checked in. He absolutely refused to do the cleaning even though I was already in the chair. I kept arguing with him about this but he flat out refused. My feeling was that he would make more money if I came back for a second appointment.
The next day I made an appointment with a different dentist to have the cleaning done. The dentist was very good and actually did the cleaning himself and also took x-rays again. He said I did not need crowns at all but I only had two small cavities. I had the cavities filled a few days later for under $200 and everything was fine.
I could not believe Tony Lin tried to scam me out of $1500 by saying I needed two crowns when in fact I only needed two cavities filled. I would advise those needing dental treatment to avoid Tony Lin as am certain I am not the first patient he has pulled this on. I have filed a complaint with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.
