First off, I$0027m no longer a customer of Family Dental. I was for many years and all was great. However, my usual dentist left for greener pastures. He was replaced by a young female dentist who was very immature for such a position of responsibility.
All the time she «worked» on my teeth she would talk to the assistant about her loser boyfriend. I hated all the drama, but didn$0027t care as long as my teeth were being taken care of. Well; I was there to get a filling one day, no big deal right. But, while she was sooooo preoccupied with her ongoing drama she drilled too deep and hit the root. Not one sorry about that I$0027ll fix it. But instead she had the gall to tell me I would now need a root canal to repair it at $1500! No discount, no sorry, just matter-of-fact business as usual. Needless to say, that was my last visit to Family Dental!

I got filling replacements and now the teeth they worked of are loose and painful! I called for an emergency appointment and the receptionist said that the dr was book all week(she obviously doesn$0027t know what an emergency is) So very unprofessional. So I had to find a new dentist. Also when I was in there the dr. While the work done by the dentists and hygienists is good, the office staff is terrible ( I$0027m thinking of one person in particular). We have gone for years and always had little issues here and there but because they managed to correct it in the end we figured we would keep going. The issues always had to do with customer service, billing and scheduling. Today it became clear we need a new place. Arrived early for an appointment, door was locked ( understandable because of the COVID situation), called the office to say we arrived and were outside but the receptionist kept hanging up ( we saw her do it). Waited for a while then left a few minutes after our appointment time. Got a call from the office later saying they had other appointment slots available but when asked for clarification as to what happened earlier they said there seemed to be an issue with the phone or maybe we didn$0027t call before… I explained we would not be going back.

Completely unhelpful when the new insurance process does not go as planned, and takes a very judgmental tone during the process as if she is a collections agent. Initially was forcing us to reschedule BOTH of my daughters appointments because of it, saying youve gone over the time allotted. The process took an additional TWENTY minutes, and cleanings are 45 minutes each. If I do my math correctly there was still PLENTY of time for the other appointment, so I had to argue to keep the ONE appointment remaining. Yes, the CUSTOMER had to fight to keep an appointment for an appointment already scheduled. We have now moved on from this practice and will never go back again.

I$0027ve been going here for years without a single issue, I$0027m not sure what happened in the last year or so but I will never come back here again and I would strongly recommend looking for dental work elsewhere. I had a cracked filling that was causing pain so I went to have it filled, I came to find out that they fixed the broken filling like they were supposed to but they also filled another tooth that had a cavity without even telling me or asking if I would be okay paying the extra cost of the other tooth. I have health and dental insurance through my wife$0027s employer. I have blue cross insurance so it$0027s not the cheapest. A week after my visit I got a call from the office and «Kathy» left an extremely rude message telling me my insurance was denied and I had to call and pay the balance out of pocket. (Almost $800!) Knowing very well that I had health AND dental insurance I called the insurance company to ask why it was denied and they told they haven$0027t received a claim in over two years and they said in order to pay a claim out they had to first bill the health insurance part of the company and then they kick it out to the dental to have it taken care of. I called the office back and «Kathy» was the one to answer. I told her that the insurance company didn$0027t receive a claim and it had to be billed to the health company first. She then told me that «they only bill dental companies» and I would have to figure it out myself or pay for the full cost of the appointment. My wife called the insurance company and was informed that in their contract it is known that they have to bill the health insurance company first and they can$0027t just refuse to bill it. The insurance company said they would give the office a call to let them know that by law in their contract they had to bill it. When they called «Kathy» was unavailable to speak to them! I$0027ve never dealt with a business as shady as this! I would highly recommend going anywhere but here to have dental work done. As for my wife and I, we will be taking our money elsewhere.
Update: 3/7/17 – i highly recommend getting a second opinion before having any work done. Family dental told me I had 8 cavities left to fill. After finding a new dentist and after extensive X-rays, I was told that I only had 4 cavities! Apparently filling teeth that don$0027t have cavities is okay with family dental! Seriously shady practices going on here. It$0027s only a matter of time till someone takes legal action.
