I took my daughter in for an exam and treatment. Dr Denney was great but the front office staff was very rigid. I explained that my daughter was in town from college for the summer and needed one small cavity treated and a cleaning. The office manager insisted that she have a comprehensive exam as per office policy. I am a recently retired dentist and explained to her that my daughter had a recent exam by me and all she needs was a filling and a cleaning before returning to college. I understand their «policy»; however, to be so rigid and unwilling to make exceptions under these circumstances seems more money driven than caring for the patient. Of course they need policies but in my practice they were guidelines for my staff vs mandates. Unfortunately my wife and I will be seeking care from a dental office that is more patient focused.

When they recommended a procedure they told me they would contact me with my fees before having the procedure done. Dr. Denney was very sweet, and did a great job with job with what I had done but the receptionist/billing lady doesnt seem to know what shes doing and was rude. First, my insurance was filed differently than my previous dentist and my husbands dentist did. My medical insurance was filed against. I was quoted that I would pay $35 for the procedure. The bill was more like $135. The billing lady called me multiple times about insurance rather than handling it while I was in the office. I work during the day. I cant sit on the phone and wait for someone to figure this out. I had a procedure done on the left side of my mouth on a Monday and the following Monday I was scheduled for more work on the right side. I experienced some tooth sensitivity after the first procedure which was a normal side effect. However by Monday (next procedure due), I was still having sensitivity. I couldnt have the right side worked on while I still couldnt chew food on the left side. I called to reschedule the appointment Monday morning first thing. I left voicemail never was responded to and finally after 4 calls got the receptionist on the phone. I was told I would have a $50 fee for canceling the appointment with less than 24 hours notice. I didnt cancel the Friday before because I hoped the sensitivity would be gone by my appointment on Monday. There is no way to cancel a Monday appointment on Saturday or Sunday. I said go ahead and bill me if thats your policy. Then the receptionist without consulting a dentist tried to bully me into coming to the office. I didnt want to come in get billed for an office visit for them to look into something that is a normal side effect. I finally had to say just bill me the $50 and Ill find another office to fix the other issues to get her off the phone. Theres no telling what I will end up paying for the first procedure since it wasnt filed on my insurance correctly. It is a shame that bad office staff ruins the experience with an excellent dentist. If I could rate my interactions with the receptionist (who is also the billing person) a zero, thats what I would rate it.

Balmoral was the ONLY place that would see me on short notice, after calling 5 different places! I can$0027t tell you how grateful I am that Balmoral staff took the time to work me in their schedules, which ended up being at the end of the day. They stayed after closing to see to my emergency. The dentist and assistant were fantastic. They addressed my issue in a timely, professional and competent manner. The dentist even went above and beyond that too, seeing that I had to fly home to DC for additional oral surgery. The dentist at Balmoral worked with my oral surgeons here to provide a complete picture of my issue. Honestly, I can$0027t imagine many dentists that are willing to do this.
Overall, Balmoral is great. Friendly staff, competent professionals. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area. I mean, I was an OUTSIDER from DC and they treated me great. I can$0027t imagine how great they$0027d actually treat a patient in the area.

If I could rate BDC a negative ZERO, I would! In my opinion, I just can$0027t understand why after 30 years of dealing with dentists, I have found them to be the biggest cons out of ALL medical profession. After all the back and forth that dreadful morning on 10/31/2018, the bad vibes I felt, the lies I caught the hygienist in as well as the thought of «I have to get back to work, so what the HELL is she doing?», and the dentist that was «REALLY» clueless»; BDC STILL continued to bill my insurance for a cleaning (though I argued with them) that NEVER occurred. I did report this, so it is currently being investigated. If the hygienist and dentist that took care of me that morning really think that what they were doing or $0027talking about$0027 was correct, then maybe they need to go back to college. Thankful my insurance company is investigating this and allowed me another cleaning appointment with another dentist next week. I hope the next dentist will prove their scam that my teeth were never cleaned! I really regret that I ignored the initial vibe I felt to stay away from BDC…..lesson learned.
