Dr. Bennet and her entire staff has been knowledgeable and kind. I had gotten regular cleanings since moving to town when she suggested that I may have sleep apnea. After getting a sleep study, it was determined that I needed a oral appliance to help. Dr. Bennet and the entire staff was more than helpful. I am not being dramatic when I say that this oral appliance has been life changing. I sleep better, have more energy, less headaches and FEEL better. I am thankful to them for helping me.

A few months ago I decided to change dentist and give family dentistry a try. I was due for my yearly cleaning. I went through the typical new patient procedures giving my insurance info and such. My insurance has always paid 100 percent for one cleaning a year . For this reason i didnt feel the need to call my insurance company to make sure they would pay for this cleaning (bad mistake). A couple weeks later i had my cleaning done and was checked by the doctor. Everything went well and up to this point have zero complaints.
After being checked out by the doctor it was recommended I have a small cavity filled. I scheduled the appointment for the following month. I was told ahead of time how much out of pocket expense to expect.
Fast forward a month and I arrive at my appointment. I sit in the waiting room for an hour and 10 minutes waiting. Not a word is said to me. I decide to walk out., im the only person waiting. 15minutes later I get a call asking if I$0027m still there. I informed them I got tired of waiting and left and that no, I would not like to reschedule. Thank goodness I decided to not go back, you$0027ll see why.
Probably a month after the cancelled appointment I get a call from family dentistry informing me that their practice is not in my blue cross blue shield federal network and that I owe over 300 dollars for the cleaning. I was assured that family dentistry would try and figure out something and worst case scenario is I would have to pay 90 dollars. I was told they have a first timer cleaning special that was 89.99. Fair enough.
Today I get a call from family dentistry once again telling me my insurance is out of network and I now owe close to 500 dollars !!! I told the person what I was told earlier (about the 89.99 special) and was told that$0027s not the case. That » special » is only for people with no insurance.
So let me get this right?. Family dentistry didn$0027t know I was out of network before sending in my claim? It took them having my claim denied before they knew? I am 54 years old and have NEVER had this happen. Almost 2 months after my cleaning appointment they were still trying to get me in there to have a tooth filled? Thank God I walked out. If a cleaning is 500 there$0027s no telling what a filling would have cost me.
In closing I would like to say there is absolutely no reason they can$0027t make good on the 89.99 price . Being penalized because I had insurance makes no sense. IT DIDNT PAY ANYTHING !!
I will update on how they choose to handle this situation.
