After researching Tijuana dentists on Yelp, Dr. De La Vega$0027s high ratings stood out. He did wonderful work on my mother$0027s partial, and then a root canal and crown when mine cracked accidentally. His work was more comfortable and better than my first one in LA and less than 1/2 the price price. He is a perfectionist when it comes to fit. 2 years later, my crown is perfect. Luckily my insurance reimbursed me for work in Tijuana. Dr. D signed my paperwork and I was ready to go. He has great bedside manner and speaks perfect English. I would recommend him to anyone. His new offices are like 3x larger. He is wonderful!

Obviously each person has their own experience when it comes to dentists. Yes, Tijuana can be a challenge to drive in and I have seen some crazy characters but the actual experience at Dr. de la Vegas office is as good as any I have had in the USA. What commands the 5 star review is the quality of his work and his prices. I had a molar root canal and crown , plus 3 fillings done over multiple visits. I experienced no pain, was very happy with the work and paid 60% less than the best quote I could find in San Diego. I highly recommend Dr. de la Vega, he is a nice guy to boot.

So about 7 months ago i had 3 root canals followed by 3 crowns and one filling done from dr. Vega. I found him based on good yelp reviews. Those are all fakes! They are heavily marketed and paid for.
So far those 3 crowns he made me kept popping out 4 times in the last 6months. I$0027ve been driving back and forth at least 8 times now so he can reattach it. After a week of pains it would fall off again. Last week all 3 crowns popped out again… Im too exhausted to drive to tj so i went to local dentist near my home.
After the dentist saw my xray of those works. He shook his head and said that guy is a crook!! this is by far the worst root canals and crowns job he had ever seen in his entire 20 years of practice. He explained to me why in details.
3 root canals with nerves still half way inside? That$0027s not root canal. I don$0027t know what u call that. Obviously the endodontist had no idea what root canal is. He asked did the endo xray afterwards to see if it was ok to finish the treatment? And i don$0027t recall he ever did any xray during or after the root canal was performed . My dentist rolled his eyes. He continued to explain to me why i have so much pains over the course of 7 months. This pains was partly from infections but also due to badly fitted crown that is longer than the other side by 2 mm. The pressures from the uneven bites cracked not only the crowns but the tooth underneath it. There$0027s no point of reattaching the crowns. All those teeths needed to be extracted. All 3 of them. He asked how is my jaw. I said ever since i got this crown done my jaw was hurting alot. He said of course… Looked… Those molar crowns were almost 2mm longer than the other side. Your bites is uneven by 2mm. It gotta put so much pressure on your jaw and teeth. No wonder u cracked your teeth and having acute tmj.
The crowns itself are also unusually big and bulky. Does not even resemble a real molar. Whoever did this crown probably have no idea what a Molar looked like. I flew from canada for dental work in tijuana. Dr ignacio$0027s associate did my root canals, unfortunately he did a terrible job.

Dr. Dela vega is very bad dentist. The greedy dentist people warned u about. His work is extremely lousy. His office located in scary part of town. i saw someone outside tryings to steal another fellow patients car.
I been to his office 9 times in the course of 3 months. his defective crowns, defective implants, badly done fillings.. all fell off but one crown but that one crown had huge open margin in which would have fallen out in a few months too. Well let me put it this way… All his works are gonna fail in less than 3 months based on low quality material, inexperience dentist, no technologies to execute the procedures. The travel expenses, headache, jaw pain, money spent, loss wages, tear and wear of my car are now exceeded 3000$ on top of what i paid him. Yet this guy wants more and more money to fix his works.
When i was there i watched him hopped from one patient to another patient in the same tiny room without even changing his glove. So disgusting. I had to remind him that his glove had blood stain of the other old man on the next chair on it. Then he would change it but was not please that i caught him. This did not just happen once.. I was there 9 times and i witness that 4 times. It$0027s his habit so be aware.. To fix dental health and end up with hiv is counter productive.
This place is grossly unsanitary!!!!
After i complaint about my crowns that was hurting badly. Suddenly dr. Ignacio went on vacation and can$0027t be reach. Huh..
I had to go to real dentist in the states to hear bad news that all dr. Dela vega work was badly done. His crowns did not fit my bites my jaw is tilting no wonder i can$0027t bite, eat Or talk. And now the bad fitting crown and bad bite irritated the roots of my all my teeth. Now they all had to be root canal not one but 6 teeth were effected. It would cause thousand of dollars to fix this.
First time in my life i have jaw lock. Jaw lock is very scary it$0027s even your mouth can$0027t close.. It get stuck.. Can$0027t talk.. Painful to my skull. My nose started Bleeding. My gum swollen and irritated. Headache from jaw pain cause my face and neck to twitch. I thought i was going to die. Dr. Delavega said it would cost 4000 on top of what i already paid him to fix his own defective crowns, implants. if i can$0027t afford it he is going to ignore all my emails, phone calls and neglect me completely.
Then as i said since your work failed please give me back my refund… He laughed.. Hung up.. I since had no luck in contacting him.
Dr. Delavega is dangerous… You can end up dead here either from infection or others trauma.
He obviously only cares about profits. He$0027s greedy. His works will give you more complications down the line. Not worth the saving!

In america that would be malprafctice and he would lose his license to practice. But this is tijuana you get no protection. i had to spend more money to fix his work. dr. de la vega refuse to refund or be responsible for his defective work . other reviewer were true about him not being a good dentist. he$0027s very aggressive. Do not go there !! consider i warn you. His price might be cheap but u can end up dead. i ended up in hospital dued to his neglecgence. he still have not return my email or phonecall. stay away!
