I got one of the best surprises of my life the other day. My boyfriend, who has been deployed for the last eight months in Afghanistan, surprised me in the middle of the night at my front door. He wasnt able to stay for long, because it was necessary for him to go back to base for a while. Therefore, cherishing this little bit of time we had together was an absolute necessity. I had a dentist appointment with Dr. Johnson the following morning. So I called to reschedule as soon as possible. However, when I called the office the women that answered was rude and showed a complete lack of empathy. I explained the circumstances but her response was an obvious attempt to make me feel bad about the situation. She just kept repeating herself that there would be a no-show fee that would be mailed to me. She said the only way she would forgive the fee is if I rescheduled for later that same day. I understand that this is a business and therefore every decision is motivated by money. However, my boyfriend has literally been gone for eight months serving this country and this business cant even have enough empathy to waive a fee because Im not willing to give up the few hours I had with him for a dentist appointment. The way Dr. Johnsons office acted was upsetting. I will absolutely never go back and will make a point to discourage anyone from becoming a new patient.
