It$0027s a shame I had such a negative experience here. After reading many of the other reviews I$0027m sadden even more that my experience was so negative. Granted my experience was from 2012 so maybe things have changed since then.
My story is as follows, years ago I was in an abusive relationship and my ex had chipped my front tooth when he hit me in the back of the head while I was drinking from a mug. Of course he didn$0027t take me to the dentist and I had no means of my own back then. My front tooth developed a cavity which quickly spread to the adjacent tooth. Soon after my ex left me, a blessing in hindsight. I was left with nothing and unemployed. A nice couple offered to help me take me to the dentist to fix my front teeth. Having had a negative experience before when I was 16 I was very nervous, but reluctantly agree since I felt I needed my smile back to get a job. This is where Dentistry at Park Place come in.
At first everything was fine, I was given x-rays and an exam and we discussed options. Dr. Teri told me preferred to give me two root canals on my two front teeth but I was completely against it. I told her I$0027d rather start with just fillings and see what happens from there. I clearly told her a few time I did not want a root canal. But to my dismay that$0027s exactly what she did to my two front teeth.
Back then I was a very sheepish, insecure 27 year old girl, most likely from the 5 year abusive relationship. So I didn$0027t speak up and just cried instead when I realized what was happening. To make matter worse the young lady who came in afterwards to put on a temporary filling told me how I was going to have a beautiful smile but then when her co-workers told her they were about to go to lunch she asked them to wait and then rushed through and left me with work that looked like I had on large deformed front tooth.
I was suppose to go back to have my work finished but I had to postpone because I had the flu and when I tried to reschedule I was told I couldn$0027t.
Over the next few month the temporary filling turned black and started to crumble and then one of my front teeth just snapped off. Then the other one broke off. I was so devastated. To this day I don$0027t have front teeth but I was able to get a partial so I can at least look presentable in public. It also took many years for me to get the courage to go to a dentist again by which time more of my teeth had deteriorated. So now my overall dental health is horrific due to my fear of dentist.
Although so much time has passed it still bothers me that work was done to my teeth that I didn$0027t want. Even if I had been given normal fillings without the root canal and it had failed at least that would have been on me and I would have had peace of mind. I$0027m also conflicted since I personally didn$0027t pay for this would to be done but it was still my mouth and I would have rather her turn me away instead of doing what she wanted instead of what I wanted.
Again this was years ago and it seems my negative experience was an isolated one. I just needed to finally get this off my chest. And I should admit I was the one who stayed in a bad relationship and didn$0027t stand up for myself and get the care I needed right away. I also let fear hold me back from finding another dentist to get my oral health under control.
The pictures are before and after pictures there$0027s not many of me smiling showing my teeth so this is the best I could find. The first is just before I started dating my ex. The second photo shows where I began painting my black fillings with nail polish to hide how bad my teeth looked. Perhaps I should also add that I$0027ve never done drugs and I of course brush and floss. So I don$0027t know why my teeth are in such bad shape. Maybe the nail polish…
