I went to the dentist today and had a teeth cleaning. I also had x-rays and a screening for mouth cancer. All was well and the hygienist was wonderful and did a great job cleaning my teeth without inflicting pain and she was so pleasant and friendly. The entire staff is professional, thorough and enjoyable. I$0027ve been a patient since 1987 (coming up on 30 years) and I$0027ve always had a great experience. I came in at 4 for a cleaning. Anna and Abby are like two spark plugs that keep the place hopping. Anna got a little over half finished scaling my teeth when she had to go to a department meeting. I have been seeing Dr. Lee for over 20 years and I can not say enough wonderful things about him! He is so patient and gentle and nurturing; so kind and truly cares about his patients well being. If you have to get a cavity filled he goes slow with the numbing shot so it doesn$0027t hurt as bad and he always makes sure your numbed up really well before he starts. He does everything in his power to make sure you are comfortable. His staff is also amazing as well. His assistant is just as caring as he is and has worked by his side for well over the 20 years that I have been seeing him. The best dental hygienist there is Netu! Well, it was fun to come in to the dentist office and sign in and find out that I was not scheduled for today, but for one week from today. However, I pulled out my appointment card, printed six months ago, and sure enough it said my appointment was for today at 7:00 a.m. The fun part was to watch the staff handle this without skipping a beat. Truthfully it would have been fine with me to come back next week. Also, the receptionist obviously had nothing to do with whatever happened within the bowels of the scheduling system, but she was determined to make this all work out. Sure enough, I hardly had time to read a page from my ebook on my kindle when the door to the inner sanctum opened and a hygienist was calling my name. We kidded a little bit about the situation. She was more than able to spar with me about it, and it set the tone for a good visit. My regular six month appointment at the dentist office is typically a great experience. I sometimes wonder what training the hygienist goes thru to be able to handle patients like me. There is usually a little bit of the need to «scold» in a very nice way, since we patients are probably universally «bad» in that, try as we might, we are going to have to give the «dog ate my homework» excuse regarding our diligence with brushing and flossing since our last checkup. So I feel like that little boy when I come in. Today was no different. The older I get the more pleasant they are with this need for discipline. She was very nice. The entire experience was the same great one I always have. We talked quietly during the process – sometimes about our own lives and then just at the right time she would explain something related to my dental health or gently remind me about the need to «do good» regarding my teeth. The actual procedure was the actual procedure and was fine. I got my teeth cleaned, polished and feeling as new as 67 year old teeth can. Dr Lee came in to poke and prod right on cue (I passed all the tests). I have been coming here for a couple of decades I guess, and have been very satisfied. I almost look forward to it – as much as you can look forward to a dentist appointment anyway. I have never had a bad experience, and today was no exception. If you have to do the less pleasant things in life it helps to do it with people who obviously know their business and make the time as good as it can be. These folks do that.
